Hello!
My name is Ms. Peters and I am a 4th grade ELA-S teacher here at Sabin World Elementary school. I am excited to get to know all of you and your families!
I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and have two parents, two older brothers, and two nephews. My family lives all over the US, but I try to see them as often as possible. Being from Pittsburgh, I am also a huge Steelers fan. Sorry Broncos.
Before I wanted to be a teacher, I was a civil engineer. As an engineer, I worked in Denver designing and building tunnels and underground structures. I also worked as a water engineer in Honduras for two years with the United States Peace Corps. I worked with small villages to provide them with clean drinking water. Last year, I was a Denver Teacher Resident and worked alongside Ms. Gutierrez as a 5th grade student teacher. I am so grateful to be back at Sabin this year.
My favorite subjects are math and science. I also love to read, but I am very slow at it. Some of my favorite books are Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein, The Little House on the Prairie series, and The Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen. I also love non-fiction books because I love learning about our world.
In my free time, I like to hike, fish, cook and bake, dance to music, and read. I don't own a television, so you'll have to update me on all of the new shows.
I’d be happy to answer any other questions you have for me. I believe that communication is very important to building trusting relationships. My door is always open and my phone is always on. Please drop by! I look forward to getting to know you all this year!
Sincerely,
Ms. Peters
